Bridging NiCo layered double hydroxides and Ni3S2 for bifunctional electrocatalysts: The role of vertical graphene

In this work, we report a bifunctional electrocatalyst with nickel sulphide (Ni3S2) as the template, vertical graphene (VG) bridging material, and nickel–cobalt layered double hydroxides (NiCo LDHs) nanosheets active catalyst. The hybrid Ni3S2/[email protected] LDHs catalyst exhibits excellent activity in alkaline solution for both OER (overpotential ~ 320 mV at current density of 100 mA cm?2) HER 120 10 cm?2). addition, possesses superior stability 99% retention voltage upon continued 20 cm?2 over 24 h. It is found that transitions Ni2+/Ni3+ Co2+/Co3+ ions enable performances, VG between NiCo Ni3S2, fast charge-transfer high sites, resulting improved electrical conductivity, intrinsic activity, electrochemical stability. This work provides guideline to design architecture catalysts highly efficient water splitting applications.
